Description

A minute’s walk down a white sandy private path to the beach opens the eye to the soft white sand and majestic turquoise colored sea that is characteristic of the diani south coastline. Away from the heavily congested beaches of the north coast, kinondo poa beach offers a private and secure space for personal enjoyment. Once you arrive at Kinondo Poa through our main gate, we would receive you at the house (reception area) then lead you onto the verandah to relax after your trip and enjoy a kinondo poa inspired refreshing cocktail as we check you in. The manager on site is happy to answer any questions you might have in order to ensure that your stay is most comfortable.

The service was great. The food was okay. Breakfast and dinner were included. There were more choices at breakfast. I loved the fresh flowers in our room. We enjoyed using the pool. It was very quiet. Be aware that this facility is on a dirt road that is quite a distance from all the shops. We took a tuk tuk to get to a more northern location of Diani Beach. There are small porches with a table and chairs that face the pool and other rooms. The landscaping was nice.

The mattresses weren’t comfortable. There were a number of bugs that looked like large ants in our room. There is a very limited menu for dinner. There are two or three dinner menus that are rotated throughout the week.

Our stay at Kinondo Poa was perfection. The condos and grounds are meticulously maintained. Cleanliness is the upmost standard. Staff are very accommodating and seem to be happy and proud of their work, which is a far cry from some of the other resorts we have stayed at on the coast. Kenyan owned, the proprietors at Kinondo Poa are lovely, honest people. The service is high standard and bespoke to your needs when you stay. Everything was as advertised and the good reviews that attracted us to Kinondo Poa are reflective of the genuine feel of the place. The beach is a wonderful treasure trove of driftwood and wildlife on white sand. We stayed for two whole weeks in the end and our children were busy every day collecting things and running around in the natural environment and beautiful gardens. Thank you for all your help in making our stay magical.

The resort is cute, the pool is lovely, the staff are kind and accommodating, and the prices are great. We had a great week and wouldn't hesitate to return! Based on other reviews, I was a little unsure about the Kinondo Poa beach, but I was very pleasantly surprised! Not only is it private, deserted, and beautiful, it is lots of fun at both low and hide tide, as long as you have beach shoes/sandals. At low tide it's fun to explore the tide pools. And there is a great spot for swimming at mid or high tide just a short walk north: a paved "road" that has extends out into the sea. At low tide it's completely exposed, and at high tide you can find it by looking for a striped marker pole on the beach. (If you get to the large jutting rock & caves, you've gone too far.) The "road" is wide enough for two or three people to play in the waves side by side, with no fear of sea urchins or stubbing toes on coral. Perfect! Any time we headed to the beach, the staff brought loungers and mattresses and set them up under the palm trees. The sand at the Kinondo Poa is less powdery than the main part of Diani, with more shells, and the hotel is a short walk from the beach, so you don't feel the evening sea breeze quite as well. We enjoyed eating out by the pool in the evening as it was cooler than the restaurant area.

We loved our week in kinondo poa. We couldn’t have asked for more from start to finish. Our room was lovely, and having our meals on the veranda was perfection. We loved being the only people there and made the most of the beautiful swimming pool. The service from Wycliffe and Julius was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. We did the snorkeling trip through the hotel which was great fun (go on the local boat if you can). We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Thank you for an amazing week of sunshine ☀️

Our stay in the beginning of 2019 was simply amazing. The facilities are well kept, simple but very comfortable. The food is lovingly cooked and tasty, and the best thing is that you get to choose everyday from a menue which caters local organic food options. The access to the beach is very convenient, and we have not encountered any beach boys. Most of the time we were almost by ourselves. The best thing about this resort is the incredible staff. It feels like staying with a family. Every single person was friendly, efficient and very helpful. We felt safe and taken care of the entire time. And we even met tiger the dog living in the resort who keeps the resort monkey free. We highly recommend staying there and hope to return soon.

Swimming is a bit difficult due to the high tides and sea urchins.
